“Leadership is a responsibility to do more, not an excuse to do less”

To the Residents of Wasco County, I am writing to express my strong support for Mark Scott as a write-in candidate for the position of Wasco County Sheriff. Having had the privilege of working alongside Mark for approximately five years as a full time road deputy and two years as a Reserve Deputy, I have witnessed firsthand his dedication, professionalism, and ethical conduct in every situation he encounters.

Throughout our time together, Mark and I have responded to a wide range of calls, from serious person crimes to civil disputes. In each instance, Mark has consistently demonstrated a level of professionalism that is both commendable and inspiring. His ability to handle complex and often volatile situations with calm and measured judgment is a testament to his extensive training and natural leadership qualities.

Mark’s honesty and integrity are beyond reproach. He approaches each case fairly, treating all individuals with the respect and dignity they deserve. His commitment to ethical law enforcement practices makes him an invaluable asset to any agency he has worked for, and I have no doubt that he will bring the same level of excellence to the role of Wasco County Sheriff.

Mark’s experience working with various agencies, both large and small, provides him with a unique perspective and a wealth of innovative ideas. This diverse background allows him to draw on a broad range of best practices and successful strategies from different law enforcement environments. Bringing these ideologies to the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office will foster innovation and encourage the already great team to strive for even higher standards of excellence. Mark’s leadership will undoubtedly help refine and improve the services provided to the citizens of our county.

I would like to acknowledge my respect for Sheriff Lane Magill for the accomplishments he has achieved during his tenure and for Chief Deputy Scott Williams for his service. While I respect them both as individuals, I find it very concerning that there is a grooming plan to appoint a successor post-election, which will circumvent the will of the people. I understand that this has been a tradition at the Sheriff’s office and that Sheriff Magill was handed the reins in the same manner by his predecessor. However, as a long standing citizen of Wasco County, resident in Dufur, an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran and prior Wasco County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant , it is highly important to me to uphold what our founding fathers provided to us, the right to choose our representatives and to have our voices heard through a proper election process. I believe that the current administration’s approach undermines the democratic process and the trust that the residents of Wasco County place in their elected officials..

It is for these reasons that I wholeheartedly support Mark Scott as a write-in candidate for Wasco County Sheriff. His proven track record of ethical and professional law enforcement, combined with his commitment to serving our community, makes him the ideal candidate for Wasco County Sheriff. Sincerely, Ray Thomas OEF Veteran Former Wasco County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant It’s endorsements like these that reinforce the importance of my campaign’s message and my commitment to integrity, professionalism, and community respect.

When one considers the qualities required in a candidate for the position of Wasco County Sheriff, Mark Scott’s attributes fill the need. Mark is more than an experienced Peace Officer: Mark is committed to community in service to our youth. I have witnessed his work ethic, empathy, and connection to young student athletes while coaching Middle School Wrestlers for the past five years. He has proven to be an invaluable asset to youth development in terms of modeling a strong work ethic and character. If one can communicate, motivate, and gain the respect of Middle School students, well, one can certainly win over a community. They don’t come any better than Mark Scott.

Robert J. Graf

My name is Robert Graf, and I am a concerned Wasco County resident, a Gulf War Veteran, and a father of one.

I am testifying on behalf of Mark Scott for the position of Sheriff of Wasco County. I believe our counties Sheriff department needs fresh leadership and Mark is the one to get it done right.

I met Mark personally and got to know his compassion for the community. When we first met, he seen the old worn clothing I had to wear to church and by the kindness of his heart got me new nice clothes to wear. As well he helped to give me a more positive outlook on life. I have seen his family grow through selflessly adopting children and changing their lives for the better through his love and compassion. It is this compassion that drives him in law enforcement to make good decisions and treat the community with the love and respect we all deserve.

Mark will work diligently with local law enforcement and community outreach to help with the homeless population in a positive way to get them the help they need to be successful in their lives. He will also be driven to put an end to all the drugs coming into our community that are poisoning our loved ones. He will get this done by working with both state and local law enforcement to arrest those bringing the drugs in and getting the users the medical help they deserve so they can be healthy productive individuals in society.

Mark excels with team leadership and has a strong belief in working together as one. He values the contribution of all team members and focuses his own efforts on working with the team to achieve the desired results. He motivates and inspires others to self- empowerment and self-respect. As well he evaluates the performance of the team to ensure the achievement of the team’s objectives.

Mark believes that our Constitution and Bill of Rights are the law of the land and will continue to set the example that which our forefathers set in stone.
